Communication of Progress (CoP)
The new way of reporting compliance with the Ten Principles by companies of the UN Global Compact.
A new Communication of Progress, virtual and improved.
We are pleased to announce the launch of a new virtual platform for the Communication on Progress (CoP), which will be valid for all participating companies from 2023.
The new version of the CoP virtual questionnaire allows companies to:
- Measure and demonstrate progress stakeholders and the public on the Ten Principles and the Sustainable Development Goals in a coherent and harmonized manner.
- Build credibility and brand equity showing its commitment to the Ten Principles and the Sustainable Development Goals.
- Receive information, learn and continuously improve performance by identifying gaps, accessing guidance and setting sustainability goals.
- compare performance with that of their peers with access to one of the largest sources of free, public and comparable corporate sustainability data.
Know the requirements.
The new Communication on Progress (CoP) consists of two mandatory elements: a statement from the CEO (or local equivalent) and a new standardized questionnaire.
- The CEO statement publicly indicates your company's ongoing commitment to the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact at the highest level. The declaration is a standardized template that is signed electronically on the new digital platform of the CoP.
- He CoP questionnaire it focuses on five areas (governance, human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption) and is designed to help participating companies monitor performance against the Ten Principles. There will be no scoring or ranking associated with the CoP quiz. Rather, the goal is to create transparency and allow progress.
Don't forget the deadlines.
In this first edition of the new Communication on Progress (CoP), companies must complete and submit the requirements between March 27 and June 30, 2023 to maintain their 'active' status in the UN Global Compact and continue to access all its benefits.
If a company does not complete and submit their CoP questionnaire during this period they will automatically be placed in the "non-reporting" status and their name and status will be publicly displayed here . This status can be reverted to 'active' by submitting the CoP questionnaire any time between July 1 and December 31 of the same year.
If a 'non-communicating' company continues without presenting its CoP by December 31, 2023, it will automatically be expelled from the United Nations Global Compact for 'non-communication' the first days of January 2024. Companies removed from the list will be publicly displayed here .
With the new CoP version, there will be no grace periods or extensions.
